The Panthers are Northern Colorado’s ONLY special needs Dance Pom team.  Our Panthers are the Heart of Colorado Cheer Academy Wildcats! They are in their 4th season as a special needs cheer team. This team is comprised of athletes ages 5 and above of varying abilities. We accept children of all disabilities and levels of functioning.

The team practices 1x/week for a 1 hour session year round. During practices they work on fine and gross motor, self-esteem, team interactions and language skills through activities aimed at developing a comprehensive cheer routine. The team learns a dance routine that focuses on movement and motions. The routine is tailored to the abilities of each individual athlete so that all athletes can participate to the full extent of their abilities.

Each athlete is assigned a ‘buddy’ athlete from within our competitive cheer program to help them learn the routine and improve their skills. Panthers compete at local competitions and perform at several local events.

Our Panthers team is coached by a Coach Vel, a USASF (United States All Star Federation) coach who also has training in the special needs population.
